KENLY, N.C. — A former police chief received a suspended sentence after entering a plea agreement.

Kenly Police Chief David Mangum faced four counts of embezzlement after town officials discovered he used a town credit card to pay for a vacation. Statements show a Carnival cruise and stays in two different Outer Banks hotels.

Mangum, who was fired Sept. 30, 2006, served as the town's police chief for five years.
