Scotty's father talks nerves, deep voice
For Scotty McCreery's father, watching him take the "American Idol" stage can be a stressful experience.

“By the time he gets out on stage, I’m kind of a nervous wreck,” McCreery’s father, Mike McCreery, said Tuesday. “But I try to keep composed on the outside. Inside, I’m a wreck.”
Mike McCreery said his son finds a way to get through the nerves.
“Once he hits that stage, it kind of goes away,” Mike McCreery said.
McCreery’s older sister, Ashley McCreery, said she is incredibly proud of her brother.
“I’m thrilled honestly. I mean, he has done so well from day one. It’s been great to see him actually do this,” Ashley McCreery said.
America got a hint of where the 17-year-old Garner native gets his country voice when “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest prompted Mike McCreery to sing Josh Turner’s “Your Man” – which has become Scotty McCreery’s unofficial theme song.
“After I sang people said, ‘Oh, I guess I know where he gets his deep voice from,’” Mike McCreery said. “But, you know, he’s his own individual.”
