Email scam targets Netflix users

Netflix customers are being warned about a phishing email that attempts to obtain subscribers' personal information and payment data.

According to reports, the suspicious emails claim that the customer's billing information is out of date and they must update the data in order to continue receiving the service. The customer is then taken to a fake Netflix site in order to add their credit card payment information.

The company said in a statement issued Monday that consumers should be vigilant.

"Unfortunately, these scams are common on the internet and target popular brands such as Netflix and other companies with large customer bases to lure users into giving out personal information," the company said.
