Educator With Banking Background Gets Top NCCU Fiscal Spot

Alan D. Robertson Sr. is coming to Durham from Chicago State University and has worked for several banks and in accounting, the school said.

DURHAM, N.C. — North Carolina Central University said Tuesday that an administrator with collegiate and bank experience has been named vice chancellor of administration and finance.

Alan D. Robertson Sr. came to Durham from Chicago State University, NCCU said in a statement. He had reorganized financial and accounting operations there, the announcement said.

He began work Feb. 15, a university spokeswoman said.

Robertson's position includes overseeing financial planning and budgets, financial services and reporting, purchasing and contract administration, facilities management, health services, human resources, capital expenditures and implementation and the university police, NCCU said. It added that he he will also serve as a liaison for athletics and sports administration.

Robertson also has worked for several banks. He holds a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Pennsylvania, a master's in business administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a bachelor's in commerce from DePaul University. He is a certified public accountant, NCCU noted.

Robertson's took up his position as Charlie Nelms was installed as NCCU's new chancellor and shortly after a state audit charged that an admistrator hasd misused federal research funds.
