East Raleigh fire displaces 14; no injuries reported
Fourteen people were displaced early Thursday after a fire did heavy damage to a single-story home east of downtown Raleigh, fire department officials said.

Emergency crews responding to the home, at 312 Hill St., about 2 a.m. and found it nearly engulfed by flames. Authorities said the fire started in the basement before reaching the main floor of the home, and it took crews about 30 minutes to bring it under control.
No injuries were reported in the blaze, and the Red Cross was on scene early Thursday to assist those displaced.
A Capital Area Transit bus was also brought to the scene to help people stay warm.
No information about the cause of the fire was immediately available.
