E. Raleigh power restored after brief outage

According to Progress Energy, a cable was down in the area, knocking out a transformer and shutting off power to more than 2,000 customers for about an hour.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Traffic lights were out of service Wednesday afternoon along New Bern Avenue in East Raleigh, police said.

According to Progress Energy, a cable was down in the area, knocking out a transformer and shutting off power to more than 2,000 customers for about an hour.

Most of those customers were back online by 4:20 p.m., according to a Progress Energy spokesman.
