A convenience store clerk was injured during an assault Monday afternoon at the Buy Quick Food Mart, 103 W. Cornwallis Road, according to police.

<b>DURHAM, N.C.</b> — A convenience store clerk was injured during an assault Monday afternoon at the Buy Quick Food Mart, 103 W. Cornwallis Road, according to police.

The unknown suspect beat the clerk with a gun, according to Durham Watch Commander Lt. Williams. Emergency crews took the clerk, whose name was not released, to Duke University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries

The store's supervisor wasn't sure if the suspect got away with anything, Williams said. No other information was released.

"There's no threat. There's no firearm," Deputy Chief Rico Boyce said at the press conference. "A student made the principal aware that there's someone on campus with a firearm."
