Durham shooting leaves one dead

— One person was killed Monday afternoon in a shooting near the intersection of Belvin Avenue and Allgood Street in Durham, police said.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at about 1:50 p.m. and found the body of a man in the street, police said.

No details of the incident were immediately available.

    Too many criminals on the loose in Durham - need to keep them behind bars if you want to reduce crime - when they are loose that is when they are committing their crimes. Fairly simple problem to resolve...

    Not too many years ago a murder was big news. It still is, however, it seems as though one occurs in Durham so often we almost expect to see it in the news. I don't know what the answer is to stop so many killings. I wish I did. But, I do think it is time to hold those we elect and hire who say they have the answers to be accountable and lead the community to make a difference. I believe the community is ready to follow a real leader.
