DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police arrested a man Thursday who is charged in connection with the knife-point robbery of a taxi driver last week.

Authorities said Rodrecus Lamar Canady, 32, was riding in the back of an ABC Cab at about 10:45 p.m. last Saturday when he pulled out a knife and took cash from the driver.

The driver and Canady struggled inside the taxi, which crashed into a telephone pole in the 600 block of Burlington Avenue, police said.

The taxi driver was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Canady is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury in connection with the incident.

Authorities said Canady is also wanted for an unrelated probation violation and an embezzlement charge from his previous employer.

He is also charged in connection with an incident that happened on April 15.
