DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are investigating a possible link between a robbery and an assault in which the suspects were armed with a hammer.

On Friday night, a woman reported being robbed by two men with hammers on Campus Walk Drive. The men took her purse, but left her unharmed, police said.

In an incident about 12 hours later, a man was hit in the head with a hammer outside an apartment complex in the 700 block of Morreene Road when a man tried to rob him. His injuries were non-life-threatening.

No other information was released.
