DURHAM, N.C. — Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened Tuesday night at an apartment complex off U.S. Highway 70 in Durham.

Durham Police Department spokeswoman Kammie Michael said Wednesday that a man reported being robbed in the parking lot of Lynnhaven Apartments on Lynn Road by a man who flagged him down, pulled a gun and robbed him and his female friend of cash, a purse and their cellphones.

The robber then told the man to take off his pants and run, Michael said. He went to a nearby church for help while the robber fled on foot.

Authorities have made no arrests in the case, Michael said. Investigators have only a vague description of the robber who was described as being in his late teens or early 20s and wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans.

Police initially said the male victim reported that his car was stolen while his girlfriend was inside, but Michael said the woman drove away and later returned to the scene when police arrived.
