Durham police officer charged with extortion
Stephen Patrick Commander Jr., 31, is also charged with breaking and entering in connection with a November incident.

Wake County sheriff's deputies arrested Stephen Patrick Commander Jr., 31, of 3621 Ashton Glen Lane in Oxford, on Friday in connection with a November home break-in in Wake Forest. He is also accused of threatening the homeowners.
Durham Police Department spokeswoman Kammie Michael confirmed Tuesday that Commander is an officer but did not provide any other details.
According to an arrest warrant, Commander "unlawfully, willfully and feloniously" broke into a residence and did "threaten and communicate a threat."
Commander is out of jail on a $3,000 secured bond.
