Durham police investigate slaying

Durham police were investigating a slaying that happened early Saturday on Dupree Street.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police were investigating a slaying that happened early Saturday on Dupree Street.

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call in the 900 block of Dupree Street at 12:12 a.m. Upon arrival, police said they found Kareem Fowler, who had been shot outside a house.

Paramedics transported Fowler, 33, of Sedgefield Street to Duke University Hospital for treatment.  He was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

Fowler was visiting a friend on Dupree Street when a vehicle pulled up outside a house. An unidentified man got out of the vehicle, an argument ensued and shots were fired, according to police.
