Durham police cruiser involved in wreck

A 15-passenger van struck a Durham police cruiser at Fern and Chester streets Wednesday morning, police said.

DURHAM, N.C. — A 15-passenger van struck a Durham police cruiser at Fern and Chester streets Wednesday morning, police said.

Investigators said the van ran a stop sign while going south on Chester Street and struck the police cruiser which was heading east on Fern Street.

The officer was taken to a local hospital after complaining of pain in her arm, police said. She was expected to be OK.

There was no word on any charges in the wreck.
