— A 15-passenger van struck a Durham police cruiser at Fern and Chester streets Wednesday morning, police said.

Investigators said the van ran a stop sign while going south on Chester Street and struck the police cruiser which was heading east on Fern Street.

The officer was taken to a local hospital after complaining of pain in her arm, police said. She was expected to be OK.

There was no word on any charges in the wreck.

"It is easy to assume wrongdoing when Durham police are involved. That entire force is corrupt, and many officers are low IQ abusive criminals." udaycoosay

Good luck with your court dates.

Hope everyone is fine, sad story because this happens often but with Durham Police being involved, it makes news? It was in no way DPD fault so why in the world would it make news?

UDAYCOOSAY....you should be ashamed of yourself and your incorrect post. Be thankful we have them protecting us everyday, that post really needs to be deleted because who are you to say that, that's ignorant!

Are there any intact patrol cars left in Durham now?

If a vehicle runs a stop sign, odds are the vehicle that ran the stop sign will have damage to the side from being t-boned.

    Not a intelligent post.

If a vehicle runs a stop sign, odds are the vehicle that ran the stop sign will have damage to the side from being t-boned. So one would think that both vehicles involved would have damage. Just because the police car has front end damage does not mean the officer was at fault. The only thing that matters is that the officer nor anyone in the van was seriously injured in the wreck.
