A Durham police officer has been placed on paid leave amid an investigation of allegations that he beat a woman during an arrest, officials said Wednesday.

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham police officer has been placed on paid leave amid an investigation of allegations that he beat a woman during an arrest, officials said Wednesday.

Cpl. Brian Schnee is accused of hitting a woman in the face during an Oct. 28 arrest. The woman was charged with assault on a government official and resisting a public officer.
