Durham man seen in altercation before slaying

A Durham man was seen in a brief altercation with another man right before he was shot and killed in a parking lot Sunday afternoon, police said.

DURHAM, N.C. — A Durham man was seen in a brief altercation with another man right before he was shot and killed in a parking lot Sunday afternoon, police said.

Javier Arreola Rodriguez, 40, was wounded in the 1300 block of Juniper Street around 2:45 p.m., police said. He died after being taken to Duke University Hospital.

Police said that a man shot Rodriguez soon after he got out of his vehicle. The man was last seen running from the scene.
