A man has died following a motorcycle crash Tuesday night in Durham.

<b>DURHAM, N.C.</b> — A man has died following a <a href="https://www.wral.com/story/police-respond-to-shooting-following-motorcycle-wreck-in-durham/16801993/">motorcycle crash Tuesday night</a> in Durham.

Authorities said Reginald Melvin, 41, was riding on Fayetteville Street near Burlington Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. when he lost control of his motorcycle.

Melvin was taken to Duke Hospital and died Wednesday as a result of his injuries.

Police said two other vehicles were also involved in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Authorities said officers heard shots being fired near the accident scene, but no shots were fired at officers and no shooting victim was found.

According to Highway Patrol, the crash was the result of a chase that started in Harnett County and ended on North Bragg Boulevard and Mckenzie Road in Spring Lake.
