Durham man arrested on robbery, kidnapping charges
A Durham man was arrested on robbery and kidnapping charges Tuesday after a brief chase, police said.
Posted — UpdatedThe chase started shortly after 10 a.m. when Officer M.J. Hamilton spotted a stolen 2006 silver Saturn Ion. Hamilton said he attempted to stop the car near Dillard and Liberty streets, but the driver refused to pull over.
The owner of the stolen car told officers he got out of the vehicle around 11 p.m. Monday to put some garbage in a trash can in the 200 block of West Morgan Street. He said a man armed with a gun approached him and demanded his wallet. The man took the victim’s wallet and then forced him into the trunk of the Saturn, police said.
Lotson has been charged with first-degree kidnapping, robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony conspiracy, forgery, resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer, felony speeding to elude a law enforcement officer, careless and reckless driving and hit-and-run.
