DURHAM, N.C. — A 21-year-old Durham man died in a high-speed crash Monday night after he over-corrected, drove off the road and hit a tree.

Tyler Joseph Strickland was driving a Ford Taurus on Red Mill Road around 10 p.m. when he crashed, according to Highway Patrol Trooper Dorando.

Authorities estimate he was driving 90 mph in a 55 mph zone. Strickland was not wearing a seat belt, and he was ejected from the car during the crash, Dorando said. He was the only one in the car.
