Durham cousins charged in summer shooting of taxi driver

Deandre Lemar Jackson, 25, was arrested Tuesday and Curtis Lewis Jackson, 18, was arrested Thursday afternoon. Both were charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping and felony conspiracy.

The charges are in connection to a June 30 incident in the 500 block of Hardee Street. Officers said they found a 28-year-old taxi driver with a gunshot wound to his stomach.

The driver told authorities that he had gotten a call for a taxi ride and was approached by two males as he walked to the vehicle. The cousins then forced the driver into an apartment and one held him while the other shot him, said police.

Deandre and Curtis Jackson were being held at the Durham County Jail on Thursday night. Deandre Jackson was being held under $2.5 million bond while bond had not been set for Curtis Jackson.
