Durham County Library hosts STEM program for teens

Posted January 5, 2015

Teens interested in pursing careers in math or science are invited to a program at the Durham County Library this month.

Wanted: Science and Math Enthusiasts is 6:30 p.m., Jan. 12, at the Main Library, 300 N. Roxboro St., Durham. Rene Daughtry, advanced services project manager with Cisco, will lead the conversation.

Daughtry has worked with Cisco for 19 years, according to a press release. He established Cisco Network Academies at Elizabeth City State University, North Carolina Central University and North Carolina A&T State University. The academies offer students an educational foundation in information technology, which can be used to enter the field immediately or as a platform for higher education in STEM fields.

The program is part of a library initiative to present STEM programming for teens.
