Durham bank robbery suspect charged with more crimes

A man already charged in the robbery of one Durham bank faces charges in three other bank robberies, Durham police said Tuesday.

DURHAM, N.C. — A man already charged in the robbery of one Durham bank faces charges in three other bank robberies, police said Tuesday.

Cameron Lawrence Taylor, 53, of Belmont Drive in Durham, was charged Tuesday with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The charges stem from the Feb. 10 robbery of the Wachovia bank at 2821 Chapel Hill Blvd., the attempted robbery of the State Employees Credit Union, 3810 Ben Franklin Blvd., and the robbery of RTP Federal Credit Union, 21 Park Drive, both on Feb. 11.

Taylor was previously charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the March 8 robbery of First South Bank at 4215 University Drive.

Taylor was being held in the Durham County jail under a $850,000 bond.
