Duke Energy's international arm, Duke Energy International (DEI), announced on Wednesday that it would purchase two hydroelectric power plants on rivers in Chile.

"Chile is an attractive market to grow our business and these assets are an excellent addition to our existing South American hydroelectric power plants," said Andrea Bertone, president of Duke Energy International.

The addition will give Duke access to 140 megawatts of capacity and the transaction is valued at $415 million.
