Drunken driver suspected in wrong-way wreck

A two-vehicle wreck Friday night closed Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh for nearly six hours.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A two-vehicle wreck Friday night closed Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh for nearly six hours.

Police said that a suspected drunken driver went the wrong way on the road shortly before 9 p.m. and struck another SUV head-on. Two sets of traffic lights were also knocked down.

Three people, including the suspect, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

Blue Ridge Road, between Lake Boone Trail and Reedy Creek, was closed until after 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police said that charges are pending.
