Driver killed in Harnett County wreck

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the driver was heading south on Buffalo Lake Road, near N.C. Highway 27, about 11 a.m. when the vehicle crossed the center line.

The car then traveled onto the northbound shoulder, struck a wooden fence and hit a utility pole before overturning. The driver, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, was killed. No one else was in the vehicle.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
