Driver hits Fayetteville house, causes gas leak

The driver, Steve David, 58, of Holbrook Lane, was traveling on Robeson Street when he turned left onto Weiss Avenue and blacked out, causing his vehicle to strike the back corner of the house, police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A driver crashed into a house on Weiss Avenue around 8:10 a.m. Tuesday causing a gas leak from the home, according to police.

The driver, Steve David, 58, of Holbrook Lane, was traveling on Robeson Street when he turned left onto Weiss Avenue and blacked out, causing his vehicle to strike the back corner of the house, police said. 

As a result of the wreck, a natural gas line was ruptured. Police and fire units evacuated the immediate area until Piedmont Natural Gas arrived on scene to repair the gas line.

Charles Williamson, 59, was home at the time, but was in a different part of the house when the wreck occurred.

No injuries were reported.
