DURHAM, N.C. — The Durham Performing Arts Center is again ranked as one of the best theaters in the country for its size, placing among the top five venues in attendance and sales.

In 2015, DPAC featured 233 events, which drew a record-setting 484,527 guests and 104 sellouts, the center said in a news release. That total was bolstered by nearly 65,000 visitors who sold out 24 performances of the Broadway show "Wicked" last January.

DPAC also hosted a number of big-name shows headlined by acts such as Hall and Oates, Mary J. Blige, Bob Dylan and comedian Jerry Seinfeld.

Pollstar, an organization that covers the worldwide concert industry, ranked DPAC fourth in attendance theater venues, behind New York's Radio City Music Hall, The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and The Fox Theatre in Atlanta, respectively.

Billboard Magazine listed the Durham theater third for gross sales among venues with fewer than 5,000 seats. The Colosseum and The Fox Theater took the top two spots. Venues Today, a magazine that covers the live entertainment industry, listed the same three for its own venue attendance ranking.
