DHHS investigating death of Butner developmental center resident
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services said Thursday that it is investigating the death of a resident at Murdoch Developmental Center in Butner.

Murdoch Developmental Center is one of three regional centers the agency operates for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It provides services for about 500 people.
DHHS officials didn't release details about the death, citing patient confidentiality rules.
The agency is working with Butner Public Safety on its investigation and will bring in an outside consumer advocate, officials said.
