A Wake County sheriff’s deputy lost control of his vehicle, hit a Hardee's sign and flipped several times early Saturday morning, according to Highway Patrol officials.

ROLESVILLE — A Wake County sheriff’s deputy lost control of his vehicle, hit a Hardee's sign and flipped several times early Saturday morning, according to Highway Patrol officials.

Sgt. Thomas Kussler was listed in good condition at WakeMed Saturday evening, authorities said.

Kussler was responding to a stabbing call and was traveling at a high rate of speed along U.S. Highway 401 around 3:45 a.m. He lost control and hit the sign, which was destroyed. His vehicle landed on the north side of Rodgers Road in Rolesville.

Highway Patrol officials were investigating the accident.
