Deputies probe homicide after body found in Clinton mobile home

The body of a deceased man was found Saturday morning inside a mobile home, officers said. The body had unknown type head wounds.

CLINTON, N.C. — The Sampson County Sheriff’s Office opened a homicide investigation after a man's body was found inside a mobile home in Clinton on Saturday morning.

A man called 911 after finding the body of his friend deceased inside the mobile home at 532 Maurice Pate Lane around 8:30 a.m.

Deputies said the deceased man had traumatic head injuries. Investigators said they believe the death was a homicide but would not comment on the cause of death until an autopsy has been completed.

Deputies spent Saturday afternoon collecting evidence and conducting interviews at the scene. Sampson County Medical Examiner Dr. Carl Barr conducted a preliminary review of the body.

Investigators did not have a suspect in the death.

The victim’s name was withheld, pending notification of family.
