MEBANE, N.C. — Authorities are searching for a man who allegedly abducted and raped an Alamance County girl who was waiting for the school bus Tuesday morning.

Deputies with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Mebane Oakes Road at about 7:10 a.m. regarding an 11-year-old girl who had been forcibly taken while waiting for her school bus. Another girl waiting at the bus stop witnessed the abduction, authorities said.

Just before 8 a.m., the girl returned to the bus stop and immediately approached deputies at the scene. The girl told authorities the abductor her drove to an area near the Orange County line and sexually assaulted her.

Deputies said the suspect released the girl from his vehicle and she left on foot. The girl was able to flag down a passing vehicle for help and the driver of that vehicle assisted her back to the bus stop.

The man is described as being white with light facial hair and between the ages of 35 and 45. He was wearing dark jogging pants, a gray ribbed long sleeve shirt, light brown boots and a red baseball cap.

The vehicle was described as a gray four-door Buick that may have had a bumper sticker with a skull on it. Authorities said a vehicle matching the description was last seen driving through the parking lot of a WalMart on Mebane Oakes Road.
