Denver police release sketch of suspect in Wilson airman's death

Authorities released a police sketch Tuesday of the man who they believe killed Shaquille Hargrove, asking the public for help in identifying him.

He's described as a black man in his late 20s with acne. He's about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs between 160 and 180 pounds. Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward for tips that lead to his arrest. 

According to investigators, the man shot Hargrove and another airman Sunday evening after a fight broke out among a group of people outside a club. Hargrove died at the hospital, and the other man was treated and released. 

Air Force officials banned personnel from the club and surrounding area where Hargrove was shot while his death is investigated.

Hargrove was an Airman 1st Class stationed at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora, Colo., as a 2nd Space Warning Squadron satellite systems operator. He had graduated from Wilson Fike High School in 2011.

"He didn't deserve to die like that," said his grandmother, Golynda Hargrove-Powell. Hargrove was the eldest of her 20 grandchildren. He joined the Air Force right after graduation with the intention of becoming a general.

Hargrove's family will hold a remembrance service for him Saturday at 12 p.m. at L.N. Forbes Original Free Will Baptist Tabernacle in Wilson. A public visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Feel Free Church Ministries, at 3543 U.S. Highway 301 in Wilson.
