CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The new owner of a Chapel Hill specialty food store will shutter other locations as it plans to take the chain in a different direction.

Southern Season filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June. On Friday, Delaware-based Calvert Retail offered to buy the chain and brand for $3.5 million.

The new owner plans to keep the Chapel Hill location open but will close the stores in Raleigh, Asheville and Charleston, S.C.

Calvert Retail also owns Kitchen & Company and Reading China and Glass.
