FORT BRAGG, N.C. — Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel will visit Fort Bragg on Monday to join a town-hall style meeting to discuss the readiness of the military and the effects of federal budget cuts.

Post officials said Hagel will meet with uniformed service members, their families, wounded warriors and civilian employees during the meeting, which will also include a discussion about furloughs. Hagel’s visit will include a tour of the Fort Bragg Soldier and Family Assistance Center and a demonstration of readiness equipment.

The visit to Fort Bragg is part of a three-day trip that includes stops at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Fla., the Joint Base in Charleston, S.C., and Camp Lejeune.

Hagel, a former U.S. senator from Nebraska, was sworn in as defense secretary in February.
