Defense Secretary Hagel to visit Bragg, Lejeune
Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel will visit Fort Bragg on Monday to join a town-hall style meeting to discuss the readiness of the military and the effects of federal budget cuts.
Posted — UpdatedPost officials said Hagel will meet with uniformed service members, their families, wounded warriors and civilian employees during the meeting, which will also include a discussion about furloughs. Hagel’s visit will include a tour of the Fort Bragg Soldier and Family Assistance Center and a demonstration of readiness equipment.
The visit to Fort Bragg is part of a three-day trip that includes stops at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Fla., the Joint Base in Charleston, S.C., and Camp Lejeune.
Hagel, a former U.S. senator from Nebraska, was sworn in as defense secretary in February.
