Deer snarls downtown Raleigh traffic

A deer jumped off a downtown parking deck into rush-hour traffic shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A deer jumped off a downtown parking deck into rush-hour traffic shortly after 7 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

The deer died on impact with the pavement near the intersection of McDowell and Martin streets, police said.

No vehicles or pedestrians were injured in the incident. Police were able to remove the deer's carcass and get traffic moving again by 7:45 a.m.
