DURHAM, N.C. — A decomposed body was found Wednesday morning in east Durham, police said.

The remains were found shortly before noon in an isolated area near Ellis Road and N.C. Highway 147.

Investigators sent the remains to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy to determine the person's identity and the cause of death.

Police said they have no indication that the remains could be those of a woman or boy missing from a home less than 3 miles away.

Jadon Higganbothan, 5, has been missing since October, and Antoinetta McKoy was last seen in December.

Investigators have said they believe both are dead and that several people who shared a home on Pear Tree Lane are suspects in the case. Still, no one has been charged in the case.
