Cumberland deputies seek suspects in IHOP robbery, assault

Cumberland County sheriff's deputies released surveillance video Monday from an early morning robbery at a Spring Lake restaurant where an employee was beaten with a handgun.

SPRING LAKE, N.C. — Cumberland County sheriff's deputies released surveillance video Monday from an early morning robbery at a Spring Lake restaurant where an employee was beaten with a handgun.

Authorities are trying to identify two armed men who robbed the IHOP on North Bragg Boulevard. One of the men used a handgun to hit a restaurant employee repeatedly, deputies said. 

Investigators said the the employee was on-duty at the time and that the assault took place in the kitchen.

The two men fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash. 

Authorities are asking anyone with information to call the sheriff's office at 910-323-1500 or place an anonymous tip at 910-484-TIPS.
