Cumberland deputies: Man possibly assaulted before being run over
A Linden man was possibly assaulted before a vehicle hit him along a Fayetteville road Tuesday evening, authorities said.
Posted — UpdatedLINDEN, N.C. — A Linden man was possibly assaulted before a vehicle hit him along a Fayetteville road Tuesday evening, authorities said.
Steven Wayne Page, 28, who was injured, was standing in Palestine Road, near Nelle Drive, when he was hit by a vehicle around 8 p.m., state troopers said. The driver stayed at the scene and will not be charged.
Page was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he was in serious condition late Tuesday. He had improved to good condition by Friday.
The state Highway Patrol is handling the wreck, while the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is investigating the possible assault.
