<b>HILLSBOROUGH, N.C.</b> — Power was back on just before 4 p.m. in Hillsborough after thousands of customers spent most of Wednesday in the dark.

Law enforcement officials directed traffic in parts of Hillsborough Wednesday due to a large power outage affecting about 7,000 customers.

It's unclear what caused the outage, but Duke Energy said power issues began at about 10 a.m.
