KINSTON, N.C. — A 10-year-old boy went missing in the Neuse River Sunday afternoon while on a fishing trip with his family, Lenoir County emergency crews said.

WNCT in Greenville reported that crews began searching the area of the river near Hardy Bridge Road, west of Kinston, around 1 p.m. They were resuming their search at 6:30 a.m. Monday.

The boy, who was identified Monday as Henry Jauregaui, is a strong swimmer, but the fast current pulled him underwater, his family told WNCT.

The Sandy Bottom Fire Department and the Wayne County Dive Team are using side-scanning sonar equipment to find him, WNCT reports. No other information was released.
