DURHAM, N.C. — A crash involving a delivery truck and three vehicles closed northbound lanes of N.C. Highway 55 in Durham for about two hours on Monday.

The crash occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. when a southbound truck swerved to avoid hitting a northbound car that was turning left off N.C. 55 at Delchester Court, into the Encore at the Park apartment complex. The truck flipped several times, crossing the median and winding up on its side across the three northbound lanes north of Cornwallis Road, police said.

The driver of a car that was behind the truck stopped suddenly to avoid the truck, and an SUV behind the car collided with it, police said.

Four people in the truck suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the northbound car was charged with failure to yield.

Northbound N.C. 55 reopened shortly after 1:30 p.m., according to a notice from the state Department of Transportation.
