A crane being used in the removal of a billboard Thursday in Durham became unstable and toppled over, crushing the sign along U.S. Highway 70.

DURHAM, N.C. — A crane being used in the removal of a billboard Thursday in Durham became unstable and toppled over, crushing the sign along U.S. Highway 70.
There were no injuries and traffic was not affected in the mishap, which happened near Barnes Street, authorities said.
The crane struck a power pole, but there were no significant outages.
