LUMBERTON, N.C. — Dozens of tractor-trailers were taken off the road during a crackdown on unsafe driving on Interstate 95 in Robeson County.

Highway Patrol troopers inspected 318 commercial vehicles on I-95 during the 48-hour "Operation Road Watch." About $31,450 in fines were issued, and 221 drivers were cited. Fifty-four of the drivers weren't allowed to return to the road.

A Greyhound Bus was among the vehicles stopped by troopers. It was on its way to Fayetteville from Florida, but inspectors found so many safety violations that Greyhound had to send another bus from Raleigh to finish the trip.
