LOUISBURG, N.C. — Franklin County deputies are searching for three men who tied up and robbed a couple at gunpoint inside their home Friday.

“This ordeal was 20 minutes of terror,” Franklin County Sheriff Jerry Jones said.

The men, wearing masks, forced their way into the home on Gold Sand Road near Louisburg. The couple, a 65-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman, had lived at the residence for 40 years.

The incident happened after someone knocked on the front door, Jones said. When the male victim asked who was knocking while opening the door, the suspects forced their way in.

The man was hit on the head before he and his wife were forced to the ground at gunpoint and tied up with a cord from inside the home. The suspects took money, two guns and ransacked the house.

Neighbors are shaken over the incident.

“This is ridiculous,” said Mary Roberson. “They work and lose their hard-earned income. And when you work hard, as much as people around here do, something needs to be done about it. I think justice needs to be served."

The couple is recovering but remain emotionally shaken, Jones said.

“The comfort zone and the safety of being at home is gone for this couple that had lived there for 40 years,” he said. “We want to catch these people and we want to get them into the court system.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
