NEWTON, N.C. — Closing arguments began on Tuesday in the trial of a Florida man charged with killing a North Carolina state trooper.

Edwardo Wong Jr. of Ormond Beach, Fla., is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Trooper David Shawn Blanton Jr., who was killed in 2008 during a traffic stop in Canton.

On Tuesday, prosecutors played dash cam video showing Wong firing the gun as Blanton begged for his life.

Wong's attorneys argued that he has some level of brain damage, and didn't have the mental capacity to form the intent to kill Blanton.

The defense is expected to begin their closing arguments on Wednesday morning.

The jury could begin deliberations later this week.
