— Clayton police were searching Thursday for a 17-year-old missing since the beginning of the week.

Mark Alexander Linker, 17, was last seen in his front yard at 401 Charleston Drive around 3 p.m. Monday.

Police said his family moved to Clayton two months ago, and they believe he might be with friends in the Cary area.

Linker is white, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 125 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.

He was last seen wearing a baseball hat, black zip-up hoodie and blue jeans. He might be carrying a dark green UNCG backpack.

Anyone with information about Linker's whereabouts is asked to call Clayton police at 919-553-4611 or your local law enforcement agency.

Has he updated his facebook status? Not kidding, he's probably hanging out with friends right now. Maybe he had an arguement with his parents and wanted to just blow off some steam.

I hope he's found safe. As a parent, I cannot imagine a worse fear than to have a child missing.

What's up with the all the wisecracks about the CPD? There is a child missing and regardless of who is looking for him, I hope he is found alive and well. I know some Cary officers and they are some of the best in the business. Don't criticize someone until you have stood in their shoes and done their job.

Perhaps he'll give away his whereabouts on Facebook. Kids these days can't live without it. I hope he's safe and sound somewhere.

I hope the kid comes up OK. I bet he's ticked off at his parents over something or other and is laying low with friends.
