CLAYTON, N.C. — A 49-year-old man was arrested by Clayton police for multiple robberies, including a local Food Lion.

Saiydiyn Abdullan Muhammad, of 1435 Cairo Way in Fuquay-Varina, is charged with robbing the Food Lion at 10105 U.S. 70 Business West in Clayton on Dec. 15.

Muhammad walked into the store at around 1 p.m., showed a cashier a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded money, police said.

"He proceeded with the robbery in a very calm manner, in fact shoppers in the store did not realize a robbery was taking place," police said in a statement. "The employee cooperated and the suspect then left the business."

Muhammad has also been charged with multiple robberies along I-85 and I-40.
