CLAYTON, N.C. — A 20-year-old Clayton man was charged Thursday in connection with the robbery of a convenience store less than two miles away from his home.

On May 1, authorities said a man entered the Han-Dee Hugo’s convenience store on the corner of U.S. Highway 70 and Amelia Church Road and stole money from the business while pointing a small silver revolver.

An employee was the only person in the store at the time of the robbery and she was not injured, police said.

Travion Lamont Harris, of 904 Greenwood Drive, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and second-degree kidnapping in connection with the incident.

Harris was already being held at the Wake County jail on other charges and his bond was increased from $500,000 to $600,000.

Authorities said surveillance footage led to Harris’ arrest.
