Child Injured in School Bus Accident

— A school bus accident in Hope Mills sent a student to the hospital Thursday afternoon.

It happened at the corner of Camden Road and Whisper Wood Drive. A truck ran a crossing guard sign and hit the bus, authorities said.

Three people were on the bus when the accident happened - the driver, a staff assistant and a student. The student was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons.

The driver of the truck was given a ticket and charged with failure to obey traffic control, authorities said.

Highway Patrol was investigating.
