<b>SANFORD, N.C.</b> — A 4-year-old girl was hospitalized Saturday morning after being hit by a car, a sheriff's office spokesman said.<br />

The incident happened at 1050 Swann’s Station Road in Lee County just before 11 a.m. The girl's identity and condition were not available.

According to the school, administrators received a report of a person with a firearm on the football field. The tip was just a report, and it remains unclear if a gun was on campus, according to the school.
